Access from the airport to Hiroshima
– Hiroshima Airport
The centre of Hiroshima is within 1 hour from the airport.

If you take the bullet train, Shinakan-sen, it takes 1 hour and half from Shin-Osaka station,
and 4 hours from Tokyo station.
– Time zone
In Japan time is GMT + 9 hours.
Arrivals
– From Hiroshima Airport
From the airport, take the limousine bus bound for JR Hiroshima Station located on the 1st floor of the arrival gate and get off at JR Hiroshima Station. It takes ten minutes on foot, from the station to Hotel JAL City Hiroshima.
From Hiroshima Airport to Hiroshima Station is approximately 45 minutes by limousine bus.
One way fare is 1,340 yen. Around-trip discount ticket is 2,420 yen.

You can take a taxi or walk to the hotel.
– How to get to the taxi stand in Hiroshima Station
When you exit the ticket gate, go straight ahead towards the elevator and take the elevator on your right to the first floor.
Get off the elevator and go diagonally to the left.
Follow the arrow displays to the left and take a taxi from the taxi stand.
– Access from the accommodation to the university
About 5 minutes on foot from the hotel to the university.

Electricity in Japan is 100 volts.
If you plan on bringing your own electronics andappliances, please make sure that they are compatible with Japanese voltage.
You may need to bring a power adapter.

Visa
– Entry Formalities for Japan:
A valid passport, with a visa if required, is necessary for entry into Japan. Visa requirements depend on your nationality. Please see the following visa requirements announced by Ministry of Foreign Affaires of Japan.
If you are an Australian, Korean or Taiwanese national, you are NOT REQUIRED to apply for temporary visitor visas to enter Japan, in general. For further information, please see the following website:

Currency and Exchange
The national currency is the yen.
If you wish to exchange money at Hiroshima Airport, you can do so in the International Lobby on the second floor.
Many banks can exchange the following currencies:US dollar, Euro, Australian dollar, Singapore dollar, Korean won, Chinese yuan,new Taiwan dollar, Hong Kong dollar, British pound, and Thai baht.
The following currencies may be difficult to exchange immediately:Indonesian rupiah, Cambodian riel, and Philippine peso.
Climate and Clothing
The average minimum/maximum temperatures in Hiroshima in August are 24˚C/31˚C (76˚F/87˚F). The weather at this time of the year is hot and humid. Buildings are air-conditioned. Suggested dress for all social functions: informal
Additional Information on Attire (clothing)
There have been inquiries from students on the standard of attire during the conference. As it is very hot, we understand preference for light clothing.
There is no need to bring suits. But please note that there will be Mass during the conference, and also during the fieldwork, we will be visiting memorial monuments of the victims of war.
Please avoid too much exposure.
Hot pants and sleeveless shirts are NOT recommended.
Heatstroke is a serious issue at this moment in Japan.
For the prevention of heatstroke, please bring a hat to avoid strong sun light.

Meals
About meals during ASEACCU conference
For students, meals will prepared from dinner on 8/21 to breakfast on 8/26.
For faculties and staffs, meals will prepared from dinner on 8/23 to breakfast on 8/26.
If you are applying for staying at a hotel night before, only the breakfast included in the accommodation fee is provided. Except of each program period, students, faculties, and staffs are required to prepare meals their own.
